Safety & Care Guide

Every lamp at Lumina Aura is designed to bring a specific warmth and character to your home. To ensure your space stays safely lit and your new favorite piece lasts for years to come, we’ve put together this simple guide on how to care for your lighting.

1. The Golden Rule: Safety First

Before doing any assembly, cleaning, or bulb changing, please ensure your lamp is unplugged from the wall outlet. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in safety.

  • Avoid Overheating: Check the socket for the maximum wattage rating. Using a bulb with higher wattage than recommended can damage the lamp shade or the internal wiring.
  • Placement Matters: Ensure your lamp sits on a flat, stable surface where it won’t be easily knocked over. Keep the cord away from high-traffic "walking paths" to prevent tripping or accidental pulls.
  • Indoor Use Only: Unless specifically marked as an outdoor fixture, our lamps are designed for dry, indoor environments. Keeping them away from moisture prevents electrical issues and preserves the finish.

2. Choosing the Right Bulb

Most of our lamps use standard E26 or E12 bases, common in the United States.

  • We highly recommend using LED bulbs. They stay cool to the touch, use less energy, and prevent the "heat yellowing" that old-fashioned incandescent bulbs can cause on fabric shades.
  • For that signature Lumina Aura glow, look for bulbs labeled "Warm White" (2700K - 3000K).

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

A little love goes a long way in keeping your lamp looking brand new.

  • Dusting: Use a soft, dry micro-fiber cloth or a feather duster once a week. This prevents dust from baking onto the bulb or the shade over time.
  • Fabric Shades: For lamps with fabric shades, a lint roller is a secret weapon for removing pet hair or fine dust without damaging the material.
  • Glass & Metal: For glass or metal bases, use a slightly damp cloth if needed, followed immediately by a dry cloth to prevent water spots or streaks. Never use harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive pads as they can strip the protective finish.
